How Jadakiss And Styles P Are Bringing Juice Bars To The Hood [INSIGHTS]...

You don’t have to be a legendary rapper in order to help your community, but it certainly helps.

Jadakiss and Styles P are bonafide hip-hop heavyweights whose careers have spanned three decades, but their legacies may be solidified by something other than their music.

Through their chain of juice bars, Juices For Life, The LOX members are looking to provide a much-needed place for people in low-income neighborhoods to consume something good for them. These neighborhoods are often referred to as “food deserts,” since access to nutritional food is virtually nonexistent.

Styles P said, "In the poorer communities, mostly, the money gets invested in liquor stores and the kind of things we don’t need."

Jadakiss and Styles P are leading by example and looking to put an end to food deserts through their Juices For Life locations, but they aren’t alone.

Jeff Brown, the founder and CEO of Brown’s Super Stores, a chain of grocery stores that offers high quality and nutritional food at affordable prices, said, "What Jadakiss and Styles P are doing, they’re successful, and they don’t need to be concerned about society... They’re deciding to use their success to make a difference for people. I think if we all did that, we’d fix a lot of our country’s problems."

With its three locations, Juices For Life is giving people unprecedented access to nutritional options in the Bronx and Yonkers, New York, with hopes of expanding in the near future.

Stretch & Bobbito ‘Radio That Changed Lives’ Trailer ft. Eminem

During the 1990s, Stretch and Bobbito introduced the world to an unsigned Nas, Biggie, Wu-Tang, and Big Pun as well as an unknown Jay-Z, Eminem, and The Fugees. The total record sales for all the artists that premiered on their radio show exceed 300 million.

The late night program had a cult following in the art/fashion world and prison population as well. All would loyally tune in for the humor just as much for the exclusive tunes. Stretch and Bobbito brought a unique audience together, and created a platform that changed music forever.

STRETCH ARMSTRONG

Stretch Armstrong is a New York-based DJ/Producer with a worldwide reputation. Starting out playing at the now-legendary downtown clubs like Mars, Nellâs, and MK, Stretch earned a reputation as an exciting newcomer that was not afraid to take chances and be original. He gained a popular following playing the latest hip-hop, reggae, and house music, packing dance floors with a seamless, aggressive mix. Though it wasn’t till he landed a time-slot on Columbia University’s WKCR (89.9FM) that things really heated up on a much grander scale. Once a week, beginning in the winter of 1990, the Stretch Armstrong Show broadcasted Stretch’s 4 hour hip-hop mix, which featured new music from New York’s best, as well as a mix of breakbeats, past classics, freestyles, not to mention his irreverent on-air antics with his co-host, Bobbito. The Source Magazine named The Stretch & Bobbito Show the best hip-hop mixshow of all time, recognizing the cutting edge, aggressive nature of the show, and its role in breaking such legends as the Notorious BIG, Jay-Z, Nas and Eminem, as well as rap icons Mobb Deep, Brand Nubian, DITC, Big L, Wu-Tang Clan, Busta Rhymes, and many others.

Jedi Mind Tricks @TheRealPerceeP Vinnie Paz + Stoupe) - "Watch Your Step"

Every time I see the homie Percee P, I tell him that this song is my favorite verse that he has ever done. To be honest, I love all of his music, but this verse on this track with Guilty Simpson, Vinnie Paz and them, is just the shit to me. Just sayin....@TheRealPerceeP
