https://mutantacademyrva.bandcamp.com... Holly Water: Fly Anakin/Big Kahuna OG RELEASED: 9/27/19 PRODUCTION: Foisey, Ewonee, Tuamie, Bstfrnd, Unlucky Bastards, Sycho Sid, Graymatter, Obliv FEATURES: Henny Lo, Duce, Monday Night, Nickelus F, Mirtaw, Koncept Jackson STYLE: Lyrical, Mutant, Hood, 420 friendly, Funky GRADE: A+ Lately I've noticed artist that have established solo careers, are partnering up with other like-minded artist and forming units to help multiply the buzz for everyone involved. Currently there are a plethora of talented crews that have pooled their resources and in return have become more prolific with their material but there's one crew that under the radar, has excelled past the pack in terms of lyricism, production, imagery and discography. When talking about the Mutant Academy, you'll notice that they have the total package, for years now they've reinforced the their signature sound without having to borrow from others and I can't think of a crew that contains more ability from top to bottom that the Richmond, VA based faction. This current project is the part 5 in a series of EPs featuring Big Kahuna OG and Fly Anakin going back and forth known as "Big Fly" and the previous releases are usually short but as Big Kahuna did with his Strainman album from last month, they extended the number of tracks and if you thought the first four were a "Barfest", then this should be considered Bar-overkill as these guys are never lacking with the word-play. They aren't breaking any new ground topic wise but being they are among the best at spitting that real-n*gga, hood shit without sounding repeaditive or leaning on played out issues, I'm really not looking for them to branch away from what they do. Production wise, the list might not contain household names but believe me when I say this could be a precursor list of future hall of famers and if you think I'm exaggerating, I challenge you to skim through their extensive body of work. There must be something in the water on Holly Block because the talent coming from that hood is insane and this LP puts the madness on display
